"In the Grasp of a Cyclone"

Like a good tornado story?

I sure do. And Valerie Lee Vierk of the Nebraska Writers Guild has just published one in the PLATTE VALLEY REVIEW. It's called "In the Grasp of a Cyclone."

Valerie's essay features her grandpa, who was picked up by a tornado when he was twelve and lived to tell the tale.

It's a good one. Valerie sets her story in the early 1900s and gives her readers plenty of historical detail to imagine what it must have been like to deal with disaster, then, before cars or telephones.

"In the Grasp of a Cyclone" by Valerie Lee Vierk is in the current on-line version of PLATTE VALLEY REVIEW, a journal from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

http://plattevalleyreview.org will get you to the journal.

This one goes right to her essay.
